A first deposit
Some venues have nothing for a wallet until funds first arrive there.
An account in that state shows one badge, Deposit first, with the venue’s sentence behind it:
- in Settings, under Trading venues, on the venue’s row;
- on the Strategies page, on the account’s card, once a strategy has a leg there;
- in the New strategy dialog, beside the leg on that venue;
- on the Positions page, on the venue’s row.
What your executor does meanwhile
- It sends nothing there. An entry with a leg on that account sends neither leg and sets no margin on the other venue. It’s said once, as an alert in the strategy’s journal, with what to do.
- It doesn’t activate a strategy that holds nothing. Activate answers “This strategy can’t be activated yet.” and the venue’s sentence. A strategy that holds a leg is activated all the same: its rules are what closes it.
- It isn’t an outage. The account’s live feed waits; nothing is told as a feed down, and no rule that reacts to one fires. The account reads as holding nothing, not as a leg that couldn’t be read.
- It asks the venue again every 5 minutes, at once when a margin move into that venue ends, and each time you press Activate. Between two, it sends the venue nothing.
A setup before trading: Lighter’s key
Lighter takes orders signed by an API key registered on the account, not by your wallet’s key. Your executor makes a key of its own, for your Lighter account, and you register it once.- What you sign. One message, with your wallet’s key: Lighter’s registration of your executor’s own API key on your account, at key index 200. Your executor checks the message is that key, on your account, at that index, before signing it.
- What the key does. Your executor signs only orders, cancels, leverage and isolated margin with it. lebroker never withdraws or transfers your funds with it. lebroker keeps the key encrypted with an AWS KMS key that only its signer may decrypt: no page, route or log shows it.
- Index 200. Lighter’s own apps use indexes 0 to 3, and LaMarge’s keys 254 and 253 (its development’s). A registration replaces the key at its index, so your executor registers at 200 only where no key stands, or its own.
Until the key is listed, every order on Lighter is refused before anything is sent. The setup runs only at your word:
POST /api/v1/venue-accounts/lighter/setup with { "confirm": true } answers 202 at once, and how it ends shows in the account.
A margin mode that isolates no position
A venue account can have a mode of its own that decides how every position there is margined.
Your executor reads the mode, once a minute at most, and shows an account in the first one with a badge, Multi-asset margin, in Settings, under Trading venues.
A leg set to isolated margin on such an account can’t open. So that an entry never fails half-way:
Switching the mode
In Settings, under Trading venues, Switch to single-asset margin asks before anything is sent. Its confirmation says what changes:- only USDT will back your positions on Aster: USDC and the account’s other assets stop counting as margin;
- positions can then be isolated there;
- it applies to your whole account on Aster, every market at once;
- Aster may refuse while a position or an order is open there. It then says why, in its words, and nothing changes.
Tried on Aster’s testnet on 12 October 2026: an account in Multi-Assets mode refused isolated margin, and switched to single-asset and
back with no position open.
